Pitfalls to Avoid
  1. Don't complain that your project or program cannot be evaluated.
  2. Don't try for the "flawless" evaluation. There is no perfect evaluation plan.
  3. Work hard to include some interviews or case studies in the evaluation. (A story is usually the most powerful method of conveying the program's benefits.)
  4. Don't highlight just the successes. You will learn a great deal by studying the failures.
  5. Don't view assessment as something that occurs at the end of the project or program. It is an ongoing process.
  6. Don't just hand assessment over to an external evaluator. Be involved.
